Your sinuses are cavities behind your eyes and nose. According to Healing Daily.com, sinsus problems are the "No. 1 reason people see a doctor." Flushing your sinuses can help alleviate the symptoms of sinus-related illnesses and ailments. Use a neti pot filled with saline solution to flush and lubricate the sinuses, while rinsing away any debris, mucus or allergens. Make saline with household ingredients.Things You'll Need
- 1/4 tsp. non-iodized salt
- 8 oz. warm, filtered water
- Bowl
- Spoon
- Neti pot
- Tissue
Instructions
Mix the salt and warm water together in the bowl. Stir to dissolve the salt completely.
Pour the saline solution into the neti pot.
Stand over a sink and place the spout of the neti pot into your right nostril. Tilt your head to the left so that the water runs into your nose.
Breathe through your mouth as the water travels through your nose. It will run from your right nostril, through your sinuses, out through your left nostril.
Pour half of the saline solution through your right nostril. Remove the neti pot. You may need to gently blow your nose to remove any residual fluid.
Repeat the flushing procedure on the left nostril.
