Understanding Active Denervation: Causes & Conditions

Active denervation: Is a pathologic process in which there is a loss of motor units with a concomitant failure of axonal sprouting to reinnervate the denervated muscle fibers. This can occur in a number of conditions, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), spinal muscular atrophy, and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
